St Georges Day 2010 What's everyone doing?

Postby AndyB on March 7, 2010, 9:48 pm

I'll be celebrating at the Ridgeway MCC's George to the Dragon rally in Oxford, I'll either be wearing a England Rose or a St Georges cross shirt.
This was me at the GTTD 2007 with my friend's rally duck

I have given myself the day off on Friday, and will probably go for a cycle ride to burn off a few calories in readiness for a family bbq on the afternoon/night :smt003

On Sunday morning I'll be going to this http://www.365englandfans.com/Stonecrossstgeorge.htm Sandwell council stopped funding for this 2 years ago :smt092 , so it has to be funded by donations. :smt004
and of course I'll be going to the 'unofficial' on the afternoon

I'm flying the big flag in the garden right now 8)

I'm at work tomorrow, but I'll be flying my St George flag from my desk!

Sunday I'll be riding in the parade as long as my bike's back from the menders in time ... :D

Happy St George's day to everyone for tomorrow!

Think we will get some George flags out today and put them up outside.

Thanks Rich!
Well I got it back but it's broke again :(
Had an annual service, 2 new tyres, chain and sprocket, and brake pads
(all fair wear and tear, I'd say)
Riding home and accidentally stalled it - and the starter packed up!
Bump started it no problem and got home OK, but still no starter.
Seems there's a one way clutch, I guess that probably stops the engine from overspeeding the starter motor,
and it's quite a common failure on the TT600 :(
Hoping the dealer can rescue me tomorrow and I can make the parade on Sunday - else I'll be arriving on a bicycle!

:smt089

I'm grounded :(

My bike's starter motor chose Friday afternoon to pop its clogs...
Phoned two dealers and they can't fix it in time for tomorrow.
I started stripping it down myself today, but who am I kidding - I'll never get the replacement parts in time anyway.
Something serious has broken inside the crankcase and hitting the starter button now just makes a rattling noise.

So I won't be able to ride in the St George's day parade tomorrow.
Ah well ... I'll be at the side of the road cheering like mad and waving a flag -
so give us a wave if you see me, and wishing everyone a great ride - see you there!

Cheers
